The first graders started their safety PBL on Monday with 3 guest speakers.

My friend, Andy came to talk to the first graders about bike safety.  Please ask your child to share a bike safety tip with you.

Mr. Porter talked to the students about bus safety.  Please ask your child to share a bus safety tip with you.

Luke's mom, Jeriann shared some weather safety tips with us.  Please ask your child to share a weather safety tip with you.

We had a great time visiting with the Waukee Fire Department.

They taught us some great fire safety tips.

The first graders also toured the Waukee Police Department.

The officers shared some very helpful safety tips.

The first graders started researching on the safety topic that they picked.  They could choose from bike, bus, weather, fire or stranger danger.

The students are writing an informative book about their safety topic.  They will be sharing their books with the kindergartners.

On Wednesday, the elementary students walked on the track for the Healthy Kids Walk.

We had a blast walking and jogging.

Luke's dad, Rob was a Watch D.O.G. on Wednesday.  The students had a great time with him.  Thanks for hanging out with us!

Our class was the first grade tug of war winner!  We are a very strong class.  :)

  • Lesson 6 spelling test will be on Friday.
  • There are some 5th grade students that are collecting money for Meals for the Heartland.  The class with the most money raised will get a popsicle party.  If your child would like to donate, they can bring money to school for the next 2 weeks.
