The first graders had fun at the parade and the pep assembly.

The Bulldog was very popular with the first graders!

The first graders learned about turn around facts in math this week.  Mr. Tibbetts stopped by our classroom and learned about them too.  The unit 2 parent letter was sent home on Thursday.  This letter gives you information about what math skills will be learned in that unit.  It also has an answer key to the home links.

Our big book in Journeys this week was in English and Spanish.  Please ask your child what the book was about.

Mrs. Newell read the Spanish side of our book to all of the first graders Friday morning.

The students read a play about a country mouse and a city mouse.  Please ask your child what lesson they learned from it.

The first graders will be going to the Waukee Fire Station and Police Department on Friday, September 30th.  We are leaving the school around 8:30 and will return around 10:30.  I'm looking for 2 volunteers for the trip.  Please let me know if you can attend.

  • The spelling test will be on Friday.
  • The FAST assessments will be sent home on Monday.
