Every week in P.E. the first graders have the opportunity to earn a Leader of the Pack trophy. So far our class has earned one every week, so we are up to a total of 5 trophies. The first graders have to earn a 9 or a 10 every day in order to get one.
This is a picture of what Mr. Jones looks for during the P.E. class. On Monday our class earned an 11 for being respectful, responsible and safe!
We are collecting Box Tops at school, so if you have any, please have your child bring them in.
We talked about text features this week in reading. The first graders learned about how the text features, labels and photos can help them understand an informational text better. This is a picture of an activity the kids did on Friday.
- Spelling test is on Friday.
- The first graders will be taking their first field trip of the year on Thursday. We will be visiting the Waukee Fire Station and the Waukee Police Department. We will be leaving around 1:00 and will return by 3:00. Please let me know if you have any questions. We do have a parent volunteer for our trip.
- Our class has been collecting our Pawsitive notes and when we get 100, then we get to do something fun to reward ourselves. The class voted and we will be watching a video and chewing gum on Wednesday. I will provide the gum.
- There are vocabulary words for every reading lesson. I'm going to post the vocabulary words on the blog. If you want, you can try and incorporate the words into your conversations at home. This is not something you have to do, but thought it might be helpful to hear them at home too. Rapidly, cheerful, arrived, alleys, dashing, ferry, space, subways, sealing.
