Fun Fluency Friday

The first and fourth graders are working on their fluency together on Fridays.  We visit Mrs. Skahill's 4th grade room to read and reflect on how the accuracy, rate, expression and punctuation sounded when we read.  The first day was great and we can't wait to go back.

Henry is the first grade TOP DOG winner for the month of November.  Congratulations and great job!

The first graders have been learning about base-ten blocks this week.  Our focus has been ones (cubes) and tens (longs).  The unit 4 math tests were sent home on Friday.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the test.

The new suits for Santa are looking great.  If your child has not created one, please have them do it over the weekend and bring it to school on Monday.

Claire Garrison, Miss Teen Iowa and a student at Van Meter High School came to our classroom on Wednesday to share an activity she is doing with Blank Children's Hospital.  The students made cards for the kids and Claire will be delivering them to the hospital.  The class enjoyed making them!  A big THANKS to Claire for letting us share this experience with her.

  • Spelling test over list 14 will be on Friday.
  • Reading homework is due on Friday.
  • There will be math homework every night next week.
  • Christmas party is Friday, December 19th from 12-1.
